Cafe Culture in the heart of Birmingham, during the 1920’s

ScanMy mother lived in a Cafe on the edge of Birmingham City Centre, UK. She was born and raised there along with her Brother, her Mother, her Parents in law and Grand Parents.

The “Park Cafe” was, from all accounts, a well patronised ‘Hub’ on the east side of Birmingham city centre, close to the famous Football Club – Aston Villa.

Business Travellers, Merchants, Shoppers and Mothers would while away their time in the warm and comforting establishment, along with their young children ‘skiving-off’ school on such cold and polluted days. Many little friends and dolls were lost and made under those tables.

My Great Grand Father owned the Cafe and his long suffering wife ran it. She worked night and day to keep the establishment viable whilst her Husband gambled away the profits doing questionable deals with his cronies.

Toasted Tea Cakes would have been prepared hours before the Cafe’s doors opened along with great pans of Soup and Bread. Meanwhile Silver Urns of Tea and Cakes would have graced the Travelling Salesmen, interspersed with great drawers of cigarette smoke.

My Grand Father was one of four sons, each of whom would have been known for their excesses. There was my Grand Father who was a Gambler (An unlucky one by all accounts!) Another son a wheeler-Dealer. Then there was the Artist, a thin young man given to fears and illnesses! The fourth of the son’s was an Adventurer; a day-dreamer who was convinced his fortune and future was as a Writer & Producer of films in the burgeoning West Coast of America. I have caught a glimpse of his name from time to time but am not sure this is truly the destiny of one of my English ancestors (although I would love to think he is!)

Dreams and plans are truly birthed in the nurturing atmosphere of Cafe’s

Seeing and Believing Your Christian Dreams

http://christianlifecoach-peterjfoster.org/free-trial-costs/

Is there a vision or a dream you are yet to fulfill; a passion that has not yet seen the light of day?

800px-Sunrise-Daytona-Beach-FLYou may say, “it’s just too difficult to even begin doing something positive with my idea. There’s always so much going on, how do I find time to work on my Dream? It’s just an idea anyway! And there’s plenty of ideas out there these days. Who in their right mind would take my idea on anyway? There’s no real substance to it – just wishful thinking!”

Yes, at this stage it is just wishful thinking. Every great idea has to start somewhere.

As a young man , living with my parents in a large urban sprawl in the UK I had a dream of living by the seaside. I saw myself surfing, having fun and running my own business and playing my guitar in restaurants and cafe’s. It was a dream so far from the reality of my life I might as well dreamed of being the first person on the Moon! But I was unperturbed. I would draw pictures and pictures of my future life and pin them on my bedroom wall. I saw, in my ‘minds-eye’ the small Devonshire community I would be living amongst. I saw the house I’d be living in and the office I’d be working from. In my minds-eye I was running a graphic design and print agency. I saw myself singing in local Restaurants, Pubs and Clubs. I would meditate upon my new life over and over again. In fact it became so real in my heart it just ‘had to’ come about!

A year or so later I was living the exact dream; and loving every minute of it! . But is this ‘Biblical’ you might ask? Or is it simply New Age? In the Bible The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you (Genesis 12) He had to see it by faith in his heart before he saw it by sight.

Again the Bible say;s “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he” (Prov 23:7) Question: Is this the missing key in your prayer life? If so, begin to seek the Lord for His plans and purpose for your life. Read again the exploits God’s people and marvel at what God did through them because they believed.

Do you have a Dream or Vision to Fulfil? Or if not, maybe you could ask Him.

Understanding Sowing and Reaping

The Key to Abundant Living

Lenzkirch-KeyWhen you stand back and look at your life as an impartial observer you begin to see definite patterns taking place related to your business, your relationships, finances, health and peace of mind.

For example, the attitude you had towards your mother could be the same attitude your daughter now has towards you. The judgements you made against others for their supposed wrong doings are now the same judgements you are receiving from others.

This is the law of ‘sowing and reaping’. It works for good and it works for bad. It is entirely neutral.

The really cool thing about understanding the dynamics behind the principal of sowing and reaping is that you can begin to make choices as to what you want to reap, depending upon what you sow. In other words you can learn how to harvest the crop that you want – and not any old crop that comes along.

So, for example, if like a farmer you sow potatoes, you will reap potatoes. If you want weeds you just do nothing and the weeds do their own thing anyway. If you are now feeling a hapless victim of your random and seemingly un-planned sowing and reaping. All is not lost.

As a qualified ‘farmer of the soul’ I help many folk begin seeing ‘by faith’ the crop they want in their life and accordingly set about preparing the good soil of their hearts to accommodate their dream. It is also worth while ensuring that what you say, during this stage of sowing and reaping, is what you actually want in your heart and therefore, in reality.

Hidden with Christ.

The Key to Relationship with God.

images-2Many years ago I asked my Bank Manager if I could deposit a small collection of Gold Coins in to their Safe.

There was a small fee involved but well worth it compared to the cost of losing the collection.

I asked the man at the Bank how they hid treasured items, such as my small collection of coins. He began to reassure me that the coins would be perfectly safe in the care of the Bank, (not that I was in any way doubting him.) He continued to enlighten me as to how they store precious items in the Safe. Apparently what they do is to put the precious items into a locked drawer within the Safe – (be it jewelry, documents or whatever); which would itself be locked inside a drawer; all of which would be further protected in the bolted Safe.

Pretty safe I’d say! In fact just like your highly protected relationship with God the Father.

Unbelief

UnbeliefUnbelief is a state of mind; a way of thinking; an attitude of heart. Although unbelief is powerful it can, however, be eroded by the Truth of God’s Word.

Unbelief is an inferior spiritual force that needs to be confronted head on! We read in the Book of Mathew 13: 58 that… “Jesus did not do any mighty works there because of their unbelief.” Jesus requires us to develop our own faith, a faith that is based upon His Words of faith.

His spirit lives in us and as we join our faith with His faith then the miracles take place. But we must believe!

How then do we develop this kind of faith, the kind of faith that believes for miracles when we speak the Word?

The Bible tells us that faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. In short, we renew our mind when we read, meditate upon and confess God’s Word.

For example you may like to speak out loud the following Scripture verses based upon His eternal faithfulness towards meeting your needs and prospering you in all that you turn your hands to.

“…I will hasten My Word to perform it.” Jer. 1:12b “ But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” Phil. 4:19 “Casting all your care upon Him; for he cares for you.” 1 Pet. 5:7

Relationship with God

Fulness of Life

God did not leave Mankind Fatherless!

Just like you would not leave your own son or daughter without a father, neither would God.

In order, though, to have a relationship with God the Father we need to be completely without sin; which of course is impossible due to the effects of the ‘Fall and the Curse!

We have all sinned! God is Holy, and there is no sin in Him whatsoever.

In order to come into His presence we need to be without sin.

To rectify this situation God the Father provided a means by which, we, Mankind can be reconciled to God Himself.

What is required is the death of a Human Being as punishment for mans sin.

Not just any Human Being, but a Human without sin!

And God sent His ownly sin-less Son to become sin for us.

His name is Jesus, who willingly went to the Alter of Sacfifice, the Cross, to die for us on our behalf.

images-1On that Alter, all of Man’s sin came upon Him and He died, so that anyone who makes Him their Lord and Savour are forgiven by God and are welcomed into His presence.

This is how Relationship with God is restored.

Fear of Man

Fear of Man will cripple God’s Plan for your life!

I have missed so many opportunities to witness to folk who are needy and in trouble; or to images-3warn a friend who is clearly going in a wrong spiritual direction; or a neighbor struggling with family discipline; or even to speak up for Biblical Principles related to situations of moral rights. And even to simply radiate the love of God!

The trouble is I get so fearful of what people think of me I can barely communicate my Faith!

So how can it be that someone like myself: Born Again Christian, Church-Goer, truly passionate for the Lord, be so easily ashamed of Jesus?

I think the answer is that there is an injustice going on that say’s, in essence, that Born Again Believers are not really part of main stream Society – and therefore would not naturally want to affiliate with mainstream Culture. In other words, I’m weird because I’m not like them.

It’s amazing that I am happy to listen endlessly to their own particular ‘take on life’, about their philosophies, their New Age beliefs and their worldly wisdom. But mention anything to do with the Truth of the Word of God and…. silence!! Or worse, they will tell me it is only useful for allegorical tales and for something to hold on to as a crutch for weak-willed people.

Meanwhile, the terrible truth is that they are going to Hell! And that includes friends of mine, relatives and even some church-goers!

So, how can it be that someone like myself, so passionate for the Kingdom of Heaven, be so ashamed of Jesus? It’s as though there is an injustice that say’s it’s ok for unbelievers to say what they want and believe what they want, but if I dare mention anything to do with The Truth of God’s Word…Silence!

This is what I’m beginning to realise: It’s time to die to self and to live totally for Jesus; which can only be done by being ‘Hidden in Christ’ This is my protection from attacks, shaming and fear of man. ‘In Christ’ I am hidden in from mocking’s and rejection BECAUSE Jesus took it all on the Cross. So, the bottom line and the antidote for my protection is this:

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer I live but, but Christ Lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in Jesus!” Galatians 2: 20

It’s not about me but Jesus!

Prophetic Worship Songs

Prophetic Worship Songs

I have often wondered what King David would have done when he picked up his harp to worship. Perhaps he would have sung a selection of popular songs of the day, some of which he may well have written himself – tirelessly honing the melody and lyrics – carefully fashioning the message until he knew the Heart of God’s purpose was honoured.”

Final25psalms-1117370-sOr maybe ( and this is my personal favourite version) he would have looked to Heaven and begin singing what He heard and saw in the Spirit – by faith. Pictures would have fired his imagination, words, and whole portions of The Torah he would have repeated – ‘chapter and verse.’

In due course, I imagine he would have fixed upon a ‘good theme’ and begun turning it into a brand new Psalm, perhaps to be filed away for a future occasion. Somehow though, I can’t imagine him staying fixed upon one theme for too long – there is always a new ‘word’ and a new song to be written.

And this is my point: In the Body of Christ I’m wondering whether it’s time for something new in our corporate worship. A new way of expressing our thanks, and a willingness to invite, hear and reflect back what we hear and see in the Spirit. Gone are the cliched expressions in our worship. “Behold I am doing a new thing…” (Isaiah 43:19) say’s the Lord

It is faith that pleases God, not our routines nor even our skilfulness. It is a belief that Godimages is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him – by faith. I believe it is no longer about singing songs alone, but about covenanting with the very heart of God. It is about believing and expecting God to respond to our prophetic songs, pictures, art and dance. It is about Relationship! God speaking to us and us speaking to God!

After all it doesn’t require too much faith to sing a worship song but it does require faith to establish a two way conversation with God the Father.

So, let the true worshippers arise, both in corporate meetings and in our personal times of devotion and expect Heaven to respond!

Christian Gifts

At this time of the year we celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus. Not that He needs to be born again every December; and neither do we need to be born again every December.

The Gift of Christmas

The Gift of Christmas

And yet Christmas is such a powerful reminder of God’s incredible love for us in sending His own Son to die for us, that we might, rightly, attach such great value and worth to the occasion. This is truly a Christian Gift.

By Grace we have been saved from the effects of the Curse and the Fall!

Now that is a fact worth celebrating, both at Christmas and any other time. So, why is it such Good News for mankind that God should send His only begotten Son into this ‘Fallen World?’ The answer is found in 1 John 3:8b –

“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil.”

Even though we may see Jesus the baby depicted on cards, gift wrapping paper and in countless performances around the World – this is the Jesus, that has destroyed the works of the Devil.

And all we need do is to confess His Name, the’ Name of Jesus’, and believe that He was born and died for our sin, and then the Devil’s work is finished in our life!

Do you need the Gift of Christmas in your life? You only need ask Jesus to come into your life and to be Lord. And as a gift to you this Season, I invite you to contact me in the Form Here and we can talk through what it is to follow Jesus by receiving the Gift of His Life.

How To Fulfil Your Destiny

Your purpose as a Christian is to fulfil your Destiny.

God’s purpose in sending Jesus was to fulfil HIS Destiny: “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the Works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8

medium_4536543987In Christ’ the Devil is defeated; which means that you and I can get on with pursuing our very own destiny.

The question then is; ‘What exactly is our each and every individual’s Destiny? What does it look like? Where is it? How will we recognise it as our own?

It may well help you recognise your individual Destiny by reflecting on some of the Hero’s of the Bible. For example take ‘Moses’…

As a baby Moses was rescued from certain anhialation, had it not been for the Pharoes daughter, who had taken a shine to the baby. In so doing she’d granted the baby Moses a freedom never heard of by anyone outside of Pharoes raign and rule. By grace she’d given him a life.

In Moses’ later life he was the one doing the rescuing. Returning to his own people – the Israelites – he lead them out of captivity and slavery under the cruel Egyptions, into a beautiful place called the ‘Promissed Land.’

And how about David and Goliath? Against all odds, David the young boy and son of the King of God’s people The Israelites, knocked out the Giant Goliath with one deft throw of his loaded sling! David’s destiny was sealed for all time in that single act of bravery.

Your Destiny is a miracle in the making – a Supernatural Gift from God designed with you and you only in mind. Your Destiny is already established in the Heart of God and It is by faith and patience that we inherit the promises of God, which includes your Destiny.

Your Destiny comes through prayer, intimate relationship with The Father and Jesus, the Word.

Your Destiny is also the very thing that you are most passionate about.

With Wings as Eagles

“God has a plan for you, to prosper you, to give you a hope and a future.”

With Wings As Eagles

With Wings As Eagles

If you are wondering what kind of plan God has for you, then let us go a little higher in our understanding. In fact let us go far higher in our understanding and dare to see our life from God’s point of view. Let us dare to dream in the truth of the Word of God for this is where the Eagles sore: free and high!

I believe God gave us the example of Eagles souring because this is the place of effortless momentum. A place of power, strength and success. And all the Eagle has done is to yield to the forces of nature already established in the Earth. The Eagle is taking advantage of air currents, atmospheric changes and prevailing winds.

Our first clue therefore to achieving an ‘over-coming’ life is to take advantage of the God-given power already available in the Spiritual atmosphere.

This is the place to be found in Christ Jesus. Father God, by faith in Christ Jesus, has already released to us all the Spiritual power we will ever need In Christ.

Jesus has connected us to the power of God the Word.

In Him we can do everything He has promised. We can drawer on His immense grace to prosper in everything we turn our hands to. For when our faith – as tiny as it may be – is fully invested in the enormity of God’s faith – through Jesus – then we will see the fulness of God’s power. He’ll get the job done. He’ll heal your body. He’ll set captives free from emotional hurts, depression and offence.

In fact, “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.” Phi 4:13
