Relationship with God the Father

Relationship

Relationship

‘Living in faith’.
I have called myself a Believer with great passion. I minister to folk who need Coaching in areas of Parenting, Gifts, Talents, Career and Relationships.
Suffice to say I am a committed Christian and am often called upon for my prophetic words, prophetic songs and prayers for the sick.
But, after all these years I cannot say that I have a proper relationship with my Heavenly Father.
I go through the motions and get great Spiritual breakthroughs with Him. I meditate upon the Bible and can recite passages from proverbs and Psalms.
But after many years trying to know the Lord more clearly, I have concluded I have something of an ‘Orphan Spirit’.
I grew up a loner and lived as a single man for many years. Inevitably I took my loneliness to the workplace, and to the family and finally to the church..
To my surprise, when I became a Christian I witnessed many other orphans both in and out side the church.
The only cure I’ve found to this loneliness is through ‘Relationship’ This is the missing key to isolation; not only in the church but in the office, shop, family and fellowship.
The Relationship I am speaking of is of a continual stream of Father’s love.
Speaking to Him in our inner man, thanking Him, glad of His presence, help, encouragement and confidence – all being received by faith.
Continual communication with the Father in this way develops a strong and meaningful Prayer life.
The relationship that develops is as a father/mother relationship whereby we know He is with us and we can refer to Him continually.
No more an Orphan/son or Daughter.

What is the Difference between a Christian Life Coach, Counsellor or Mentor?

400SnowFamilyChristian Life Coaching is about helping the Client get from where they are now to where they want to be expressed as a Goal. Then helping them take action to fulfil their Goal through patient questioning and active listening. Prayer and the application of faith through the Word of God is encouraged together with accountability in fulfilling tasks. A variety of ‘tools’ may be drawn on, such as the application of Mind Renewal, Forgiveness, Disappointment and Unresolved Hurts, as a means of helping Clients identify and achieve their defined Goals.

Counselling is a type of ‘talking therapy’ which involves a person discussing emotional difficulties and problems in a supportive and confidential environment. The Counselor does not give advise nor be judgemental, rather their role is to listen to the client with empathy
so as to help them understand their feelings and behavior Hopefully the client finds their own solutions to their problem.

Mentoring A Mentor is an accomplished and experienced professional/expert who has a desire to help, to guide and develop a junior or more advanced person.

Briefly Counseling is there to sort out issues, Coaching helps you negotiate hurdles, whilst Mentoring shows you how to do it for yourself!

How To reach the Top of your Christian Mountain

mountainwithwords

We so long to step out in faith and bring the Kingdom of Heaven into situations and circumstances affecting our lives. But somehow we just seem to hit a brick wall! Thankfully the Word of God tells us how to overcome every obstruction.

Although we are encouraged to pray more, to rebuke the ‘Devour’ and to declare Scripture that affirms our God-given rights; there’s still something missing!

Frustrated and disappointed we throw our hands into the air concluding that it’s all our own fault and that we are stuck due to a lack of faith (or some other sin that is blocking our prayers.) And so we repent more and we pray more.

Result: Condemnation and failure!

But I have good news for you, this is the exact place where The Lord wants us – fully emptied of ourselves and fully dependant upon Him. For it is in Him, Jesus alone, that we “can do all things through Christ that strengthens us.” It is His strength, not our strength that open’s doors that no man can open; so that we have the opportunity to become more and more like Him – growing in the power of His might.

Paul the Apostle put’s it this way: “For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily: and you are complete in Him,who is the head of all principality and power. (Col 2:9-10)

What do you want Jesus to do for you? Mark 10:51

origin_266023763-1“You do not have, because you do not ask God.” James 4:1-8

The trouble with so many of us Believers is that we just can’t believe that God is speaking and listening to us – personally!

He speaks to us personally through the Bible and through our thoughts and circumstances. He does so because He really loves to fellowship with us and longs to help us in our times of trouble.

And yet…

I used to think: for the Lord God of Heaven and Earth to actually want to walk and talk with little old me is like asking the Queen of England to stop her cavalcade and actually summons me for a one on one chat.

It just doesn’t happen that way and so I don’t even spend time dwelling on it.

And yet over the days and weeks I kept hearing in my ‘inner man’ His words: “What do you want me to do for you?”

So, I took me a writing pad and began a long and detailed list of all my needs related to work, relationships, and ill health. Ill health being my greatest need. After all if you don’t have good health you don’t have the energy to do anything!

I kept writing and writing and writing! I listed specific desires I had as a new Christian: A wife, a Ministry, a good business, great friends, money and health. All the usual things.

Exhausted, some time later I packed up my pad and pen and headed back home.

It wasn’t until I reached home that I finally began to realise the objective as a Christian was not to aquire things but a Person – the Person of Jesus Christ. What I truly want and what Jesus wants is Relationship! He’ll provide everything else – including good health.

A Coaching Culture in every Church

“During the 20 years of being a member of a local church, I have witnessed an abundance of Gifts and Talents not being used! The Heart of God burns for His people to be free to prosper: Spirit. Soul & Body.”

"The Heart of Coaching"

“The Heart of Coaching”

I’m not necessarily talking about those members at the front of the church: the Musicians, Leaders, Preachers etc,. their talent is visibly recognized. What I’m talking about is those members of the congregation who have – through necessity – hidden their talents under a bushel; some through reluctance, some through fear of rejection and some simply because of not fitting in, not understood!

What a waste!

So why is this such an important issue in the Body of Christ? The simple answer is that God gave Gifts to each one of us to be expressed: Gifts to reach the unsaved; Gifts to create Businesses and Employment. Gifts to discover what the Bible calls ‘Witty Inventions’ to change lives for the better and to create new and dynamic Evangelistic programs.

My belief is that we have a remit from the Father to ‘mine’, as it were, the depths of the Church and to uncover latent talent and to harness ‘passion’ for great ideas.

We need to adopt a culture that dares to take to the ‘world’ the principles of ‘The Kingdom’ – in an accountable and orchestrated fashion.

What is needed is a ‘Coaching Culture’, a ‘can-do’ attitude, and a talent for spotting ‘raw- talent’, together with the ‘Heart of God’ to try, test and bring to market, as it were, new ideas.

So, how do we go about adopting a Coaching and Talent-Spotting Culture within every church? Apart from prayer, there are 7 Key’s to making this change, which I will share next week on this Blog site.

Next Week: “How To” Create a Coaching Culture in every Church.
