I’d like to share with you where I’m at with my Christian Healing related to CFS, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or M.E.
Rather than dwell on the disease, I have ‘painted a picture’ in my heart of who I am according to what God says about me in His Word.
No, this is not New Age psycho-babble; but Scriptural. Please stick with me.
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success…” (Joshua 1:8)
The word ‘meditate’ involves imagining or dwelling in my heart inwardly. It is, in effect, visualising what God says about me is true: Who I am, What I can do, and How much He loves me. This is Hope!
The Bible tells me that: “For as he thinks in his heart so is he.” This word ‘thinks’ refers, again, to dwelling upon, visualising or imagining – by grace through faith in Christ Jesus.
I guess I could say it has taken years of imagining fears, hurts, and bitterness in my own life – maybe in the generations too (the effects of sin and the Fall) resulting in sickness and disease. It stands a good chance it will take time to change it.
But as the above Scripture tells me, as I do meditate (or imagine) in my heart upon what God says about me, then the ‘picture’ on the inside changes from sickness to prosperity. So that, from out of my heart-believing prosperity I will have good success on the outside. In other words, it’s an inside-out job; God’s life in; God’s life out!
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,” (Hebrews 11:1)
Hope refers, again, to dwelling upon inwardly: visualising or imagining. I am to cast down imaginations that do not conform to what God say’s about me and to replace them with His thoughts towards me: thoughts of peace: to give me a hope and a future.
It takes hope first for faith to work – faith working by love.
Meanwhile, I refuse evil imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. And, as the Bible says, my healing shall spring forth speedily! Thus, it is very important how I see myself.
Yes, I would love an instant healing; I’ve had wonderful touches from the Lord that sustains me and I will continue seeking prayer for healing.
But something tells me that this is a ‘self-coaching’ job involving appropriating Scripture in my heart before seeing it on the outside. And meanwhile, as a concequence, it’s amazing what God is doing to set me free in other areas of my life. Maybe this is all part of my healing!
